Rosemarie Perla, Leadership Coach and Trusted Advisor
Thanks for stopping.
Perhaps you came by to learn more about the coaching process because you are at a turning point in your life or work. These turning points can be powerful opportunities for growth.
As a licensed psychologist well adept in the process of behavioral change (Biography), I formed my coaching and consulting practice in 1998. After first learning about this emerging field of coaching in the 1990’s, I was intrigued with its focus on human potential, development and performance since this was much of what attracted me to the field of psychology back in the 1970’s.
Coaching for Business and Personal Growth
First, what is coaching?
As defined by the Harvard Institute of Coaching:
” Coaching is a change process that mobilizes the strengths and realizes the potential of an individual or an organization. The practice of coaching embodies a unique skill set designed to optimize the performance of a person or organization in diverse arenas including leadership, healthcare, business and public service.”
Over the years, I built a coaching and consulting practice for businesses and individuals based on evidence found in social science research and a theory of human behavior that is systems based—understanding how individuals function in their families, businesses and organizations.
Everyone has the capacity to grow and change—to meet their life’s potential and to give their best contribution. My goal is to assist you to plan a way forward based on your desires for change and development. Together, we will create a development goal and design a plan of action to meet these goals.
Between sessions, I will give you homework: suggestions for observation and studies. The purpose is to teach you methods of managing yourself and offering coaching as to how you might consider your own behavior in light of the system you find yourself in. You will also develop an understanding of the dynamics inherent in how systems naturally unfold. Through this process, you will use strengths surveys to help you appreciate your strengths and the strengths of others.
My Coaching Experience
I have coached leaders in Fortune 500 companies such as CBRE, Kennametal, PNC Financial Services, CH2M Hill and across various industries such as Legal, Engineering, Architecture and IT. Small to medium-sized businesses contact me for team development and effectiveness, coaching their leadership team in personnel management, strategic vision and alignment, and educating staff as to their strengths and opportunities to contribute positively to the workplace.
Through the International Coach Federation, I earned a Professional Coach Certification (PCC) after meeting over 1200 hours in coaching individuals and receiving the requisite training and education to achieve this professional status. In addition, I am a member of the Institute of Coaching at McLean Hospital, Harvard University which has been a modality for me to continue learning to upgrade my credentialing for psychology and professional coaching certification.
